SIDS
SIDS stands for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. It is the sudden and unexplained death of a baby under 1 year of age. SIDS is the most common cause of death in infants aged 1 month to 1 year. Most occur in infants 2-4 months. The male-to-female ratio is 3:2 in most population studies, and SIDS is higher in African Americans and Native Americans for unknown reasons.
Causes of SIDS
Most likely there is more than one factor that leads to the death of a baby. Some of these factors may include:
Toxic Gases - Crib mattresses give of a deadly gas that has been connected to SIDS.
Birth Defects - Some of the most common birth defects are 1) problems with the heart or 2) neural tube defects like spina bifida.
Environmental challenges or stress — Some extra challenge to the body — from passive tobacco smoke to excess carbon dioxide or overheating —triggers the breakdown in function of the central nervous system that controls heart beat and respiration.
Vitamin Deficiancy — Australian researchers suggest that SIDS could be the result of infantile scurvy (vitamin C Deficiancy) and possibly have an effect on proteins that guide electrical activity in the heart.
Viral or Bacterial infection— Infections such as E. coli and Lyme disease may be a factor in SIDS.
The role of E. coli in SIDS:
High levels of E. coli in the gut and bloodstream can lead to death in an infant. There are medical articles which suggest that vaccines are damaging the immune system of some babies, and that the potentially immunosuppressive nature of vaccines could be contributing to the death, and ill-health of our babies. The DPT vaccine can cause temporary liver dysfunction in infants similar to that caused by viral hepatitis. Hepatitis B vaccine can sometimes cause permanent liver damage.
E. coli has been found in large numbers in the more absorptive portions of the gastro-intestinal tract of babies who died of SIDS. Since gastrointestinal E. coli is detoxified by the liver, any suppression of the RE (Reticuloendothelial) system by vaccines places a baby at risk of death by endotoxin effect. As the E. coli bacteria dies, it produces endotoxins. Endotoxins are potentially toxic, natural compounds found inside pathogens such as bacteria, and are released mainly when bacteria are lysed (killed). E. coli endotoxic effect can also kill an unvaccinated baby. In unvaccinated babies, environmental factors conspire to enable the endotoxin to overwhelm the liver resulting in an increase of endotoxin in the blood stream.
A final mechanism of cardiac and respiratory failure from high levels of E. coli. Platelet injury by endotoxin may result in a dramatic rise in serotonin. Serotonin can initiate coronary chemoreflex causing profound bradycardia, hypotension and cardiac collapse.
Bottle-fed babies have much higher levels of intestinal E. coli than breast-fed babies. Bottle-fed babies have three times the risk of SIDS as breast-fed babies. Breast-feeding dramatically reduces E. coli colonisation. One bottle of formula is enough to change a baby'e gut dramatically, and it takes two weeks of breastfeeding to return the gut back to normal. How can this happen? E. coli is a putrifactive protein loving bacteria. The protein content of human breast-milk is lower than in any other mammal. The higher protein content of formula or milk supplements has a direct influence on the numbers of E. coli in the gut. The very low protein content of breast-milk creates a more hostile acid environment unsuitable for E. coli, and breast-milk also contains specific E. coli neutralising factors.
The key to the toxicity level of the endotoxin is the speed with which it can multiply, given the right circumstances. These factors include bottle-feeding, stress, overheating, viruses, vitamin deficiencies, and the suppressive actions of vaccines on the reticuloendothelial system (liver).

LYME DISEASE AND SIDS:

Many people who have lyme disease do not know they are infected. Lyme Disease is the fastest growing epidemic in the world. LD is grossly underreported so there may be far more than the 200,000 cases reported annually in the U.S. Dr.Harvey and Salvato estimate that 1 billion persons in the world may be infected with LD. LD is thought to be a contributing factor in 50 % of patients who have chronic illness.
There is compelling evidence that Lyme disease can be spread by sexual and congenital transfer. One physician has cared for 5000 children with Lyme Disease.. 240 of these children were born with the disease. Dr. Charles Ray Jones, the leading pediatric specialist on Lyme Disease, has found 12 breast fed children who have developed Lyme Disease. Miscarriage, premature births, stillborn, birth defects, and transplacental infection of the fetus have all been reported. Studies at the Univ. of Vienna have found Borrelia burgdorferi (the spirochete that causes Lyme Disease) in urine and breast milk of mothers with lyme disease.
